The funny thing is, one day I will die and not a person on this forum will even know, much less care.

All these years later, we are still quoting RAMS, a disruptive, mostly non-productive forum member. (aside from the comedy that has come from mocking his posts)

It's pretty awesome, the man's legacy is not one of his supposed involvement with NASA, but mostly one of Jeep forum antic remembrance!

What he provided in stirring things up was worth it's weight in gold. Things seemed different back then too. There was a group of members that always were interested in what all the others were doing and allot of engagement. I don't see as much of that now. And we had allot more humor back then too, which is in short supply now.

The greatest thing is when he started his own forum and Cockpipe Bandito was a member and it was basically him and RAMS debating the JKU.

Throttle up.

So here we sit....fires, riots, looting and the virus. Then we are supposed to keeping sitting. It's times like this that the forum needs RAMS so he can insult us send us pms telling us he's going to kill us then lie to everyone all the time! Then tell us all to go pound sand! But what do we have. No talent. Lets face it men, we can't fill his shoes

I got to the disembarkation zone there at darien gap, panama.

It changed this time, forever, more.

I got my entry papers and other data and stamps and headed out as normal, till i got to the entry border gate road into colombia proper about 1/2k further. I showed my papers, declared my weapons (12 gauge rem. Mag. W/8 shot magazine extension tube, and my 9mm glock, 17 shot hand shooter). All was well for about 10 min, when they flagged me in-country a few yards, then, wanted to charge me a toll for my guns, ammo, vex's weight exceedence (it is booked at 3200 lbs, it weighs loaded, 7000+), and all sorts of extra "tolls" that were utter bull****.

I looked at the 5 banditos at the border office station, and said in spanish, "i don't do tolls!". They smiled, looking at each other
knowingly. The head guy said, "you will pay toll to enter our country, amigo."

i said, "no. This is free thoroughfare through colombia, from the north, all the way down to the end of the world. It is the way i have always gone. And they do not charge tolls on public pan-american roads."

they moved around vex and trailer.

I pulled my hat down lower and watched them.

They surrounded me and vex.

I then was standing right at the back of vex.

I reached in and pulled out a smoke and my lighter. They watched.

I lit my smoke and then held the lighter out and said, "i am going to get in my jeep here, and turn around and go back out of your ****hole country. If there is even a whisper, i will put this lighter on my wet gas cans here and blow the jeep, me and you, to forever. Do you understand?" i was smiling.

They started backing away from me and vex and were hand gesturing for me to turn around and head back into the darien corridor. I did. I tore out of there the few yards back into the darien gap of panama, and was totally pissed as i had to figure out to get south.

I eventually got a ship to quitos ecuador, and came in through there and headed south from there. That was that.

But to this day i've never gone through colombia ever again. I always have to go east or west-- into quitos on the pacific side or through caracas, vz, on the east or atlantic side. A pain.

But, at least there was no shoot and loot.

But there have been times i've had to shoot and loot. But better them than me, besides, god will know his own.

It would have been great if in this fictional BS account of his life, Vex had failed to start and he had accidentally dropped his lighter out.

I bet there would have been a shoot and loot for sure then.

God will know his own.
