Anyone Split Their Fresh Air Box?

I'm in the middle of refreshing my heater and fresh air box. The seal between the upper and lower half of the fresh air box is completely gone.

I'm torn between just forcing some RTV between the two halves or drilling out the rivets and resealing it (with RTV) then bolting it back together. I've got a rivet gun, but for some reason using hardware sounds like the better option if I go that route.

Thoughts?

Maybe I skimmed too fast, but I didn't see anything in that thread about splitting the fresh air box other than this:

I wouldn't attempt tearing into that box unless it was absolutely necessary.

Which maybe is my answer...
