What makes you think it is a Jeep?

At first glance you would say Ford GPW based but look more closely and none of the metal matches, it is more "in the style".

What is under the hood? A big diesel?

If you believe it is a factory built vehicle then it coud be a tug of some kind

Bingo! We have a winner.
But it looks as though a tub from a CJ-5 tub was spliced into it.

It is not necessarily a Jeep, though built to look like one. your articles also place it as post WW2 as jet plane starters, possibly on a new CJ3A chassis. Interesting to see if this was actually the case. The claim to be a 1941 Willys seems dubious.

The sellers says it has 4WD, interesting to see how that works with the V8 and the gearing it has.

Huh, I'm about 15 min from there right now.
Too bad I have to work.

With the big naval base here, it doesn't surprise me to some extra stuff being sold off.
