85 cj-5 seat

i just got a 85 cj-5. i was wondering if anyone has had any luck with using seats from a s-10 or similar vehicle to replace the factory jeep seats? any info would be appreciated. Also does anyone know why most parts suppliers on line do not show the 85 cj-5? seems like the stop at 83. but have the parts for an 85 cj-7. again any info would help alot. thank you

There never was an 85' CJ-5. CJ-5 last production year was 1983.

Just about any seat from the CJ of 1976-1986 will fit in a CJ-5 or CJ-7 or CJ-8.

Yup, no 85 CJ5.

That being said, years ago when the "stock" seats in my 85 CJ7 fell apart, I adapted S-10 seats. the driver's side fit my seat slider perfectly (I don't think it was really stock). On the passenger side, I had to make a simple adapter out of some 3/16"x2" steel plate to make the holes line up. They worked and were comfortable (the tilt function was nice as I prefer a more erect posture when driving and the Mrs. likes to recline a bit more riding shotgun), but they were a bit taller than stock seats. when I went to shoulder belts (after they YJ tub swap) the seatbelts wouldn't work without extenders, so I installed the stock YJ seats, pivot brackets, and sliders from the donor tub. I need to buy longer seatbelts and then I'll probably go back to the S-10 seats (or maybe find some heated seats at the local boneyard). Got to make the Mrs. comfortable.

Every 20 minute job is just one broken bolt away from a three day ordeal.
