'99 was the first year of the new body style and the new engines, Chevy/GMC made both, they had the Silverado (5.3L) and The Silverado Classic (5.7L).

I think you have a 5.3L...

BTW, Sounds like a great swap, post some pics when you get into it...

Dirt,
yea looks tight from preliminary measurments last weekend. Looks like goign to lose the fan and go to electrics and to get as far forward as we can and possibly get it up as high as i can to sneak the exhaust back into the frame. I'll let you knwo what i see when we do the first fitting in a few weeks.

Dirt, PM'ed you.

Just heard back from the transmission guy. Dropped it off tuesday ready to go this morning with new tail shaft for norvak conversion. $250 didn't charge any extra for seals even though he replaced them and did visual insp on all clutches and stuff. sounds like a great deal.

I was wrong. I forgot Tahoe's didn't change until 2000. Pickups had the 5.3 from 99 on, but Tahoe's were the old body style with the 5.7 until 2000.

Sure glad CJ owners still wave..

I think it would be worth it.This conversion was alot of fun.We got hooker hugger headersFrom summit racing Part # hok-2313hkr. Because the headers from the 5.3 end up being right ontop of the frame. We ended up getting motor mount for this from advanced adapters. we have a 5.3 from a 2001 avalanche and the 4l60e transmission. We ended up putting A dana 300 transfer case with this bought the adapter for it from advance adapters, check Novak though they might have this adapter cheaper. Our conversion was about $4000 to do but, worth it .
