304 part identification

Hi guys. Currently rebuilding the carb on my 304. Can you tell me the function of the items circled in the attached picture?

Im probably totally wrong but I would say maybe a fuel vapor line or fuel return, but that doesnt make sense to me going into the intake. Line is a hard line and too small of diameter for coolant I would guess?

If it's the part I think it is, it's called an EGR Dump Valve. It prevented the EGR from operating at low vacuum pressure.

When I built my 360, I searched for days to find one, anywhere. Never found one. I even started a thread, here, and nobody knew what is was, or where to fined one.

It's one of the reasons I omitted the EGR, and capped off the opening at the intake.

Ollie09 is spot on correct. I forgot all about the heat tube.

Sorry for my misinformation.

Matt

You only need it if your carb has a hot air operated choke. If it has an e-choke, or is a manual choke, the air tube is not needed.

Good to know. The 80s era motorcraft 2150 carb that i installed looks like it has a port for it but runs fine.

Thanks guys. I have the original motorcraft carb. I think it’s a 2150, but doesn’t seem to be super clear between the 2100-2150. It’s a ‘78 golden eagle. I thought the carb was electric, as it definitely has a electrical connection, but makes sense that it’s got the heat tubes for the choke coil on it.
