1985 CJ7 Renegade value

Going to look at a 85 renegade, was told its an I6 and a 5spd, frame possibly bad. I haven't seen it so I'm just throwing out there what I've been told. Also was told has a new "front end" not exactly sure what all that entails.

I owned a 85 CJ7 Laredo and sold it about 15 years ago and miss it more than any other vehicle I've ever owned, so itching for another.

Is this worth $2500 if it needs another frame?

just a frame............................................. .........................................body looks bad as well. ever nut and bolt will be a PITA. Front end rebuild, lol. that is like lipstick on a pig at this point. can they be more vague? has a new radio too?

unless your plan is what could be years of labor or pay someone? I would spend MUCH more with something way better to start with. why start in a deep hole and just keep digging? I could be wrong but Rust is a deal breaker at some point or the buyer is very skilled at metal work or has DEEP pockets to have it done.

I would think not worth the 2500 if the frame needs to be replaced. It also looks like it needs a ton of body work. Leads me to believe it probably needs a ton of work all the way around. It's clearly been sitting for awhile and I agree with the above on the rust. You can see it on the steering wheel bolts...you know it's all through the rest of it.

Better off waiting for a better deal. What condition the Jeep is in when you start really matters down the road when you start turning bolts.

If the frame is bad (rusted?), most of the vehicle will be rusted.
Chasing endless rust is no fun.
The best advice given to me was: Buy the very best vehicle you can afford. It will be less of a headache, you will avoid poor quality offshore repro parts and more fun in the long run.

Nothing abiut it would make me want to buy it as anything but a complete rebuild jeep. It has a weak T5 transmission, 258 OK, no accessories, every rubber part will probably be toast, rust everywhere. man, looks like it has been sitting some time as well.

If your intent is a nut and bolt rebuild I would go for a more complete Jeep, if it is a trail rig and you wish to custimise and beat it on the rocks, OK, but it has to be cheap.

I went and looked at it yesterday, its a lost cause. I was hoping it wasn't, oh well.
