Got a set of new gauges in the mail today and installed the coolant temp, oil pressure and the speedo into the temporary gauge panel. Oil pressure and coolant temp are right on the money after running for 15-20 minutes. My dad is going to bring his old school tach/dwell meter over on Saturday so we can fine tune the timing and get the carb dialed in. If all goes well, we may even take the chassis for a spin around the driveway

Had some nice 45 degree weather here today, so we tried to get the carb and timing dialed in. It's looking like the carb has a leak somewhere . We weren't able to get it completely dialed in, but it was running good enough we decided to take it for a spin around the driveway!

Also found a couple of issues as well.

-The top of the shift tower is leaking a bit, nothing that a CV boot repair kit didn't fix

-Brake master cylinder cover leaks a bit.
Tracking down a better seal to see if that resolves it.

-Front seal on the engine is dripping, not sure if it's the seal or if the seal surface on the pulley is worn

-Also installed a 1/2" thick spacer on the passenger side rear spring to correct the "Willys Lean"

The last 2 weeks have been a bit quiet, as we hit a funding roadblock and the next steps involve the body work.

However, this last weekend we sold the 1948 CJ2A that came with this Jeep (it was in much worse shape). So now we have cash for the project.

In the meantime, after several attempts as trying to solve the leaky carb, I finally gave up and sent it out to the Carter WO expert at "Old Jeep Carbs,.LLC" in North Carolina. Rick comes highly recommend from the flat fender community. He sent me some photos of his handywork prior to testing the carb and it looks great!

Well it's been a while since I've posted anything. Been working from home the last 2 weeks due to COVID19, so I've been able to get some work done. Unfortunately my dad has stayed away, he's 65 and we don't need him getting sick.

We got the grille back from the sand blaster and I repaired a few damaged areas. We also ordered a new fan shroud, as ours was missing. With the aluminum radiator, I had to come up with a different way to mount the shroud. Got it mocked up tonight. Time to blow it all back apart and get the parts ready for paint.

Got the grille in primer and the fan shroud painted over the weekend. Also started putting the headlight buckets back together. Waiting on a few parts to finish those out.

Bolted the grille and fan shroud back onto the chassis last night and installed the one complete headlight bucket. It's starting to look like a Jeep again!

I’ve always loved how gigantic those headlights look on those rigs. Lookin’ good.

Took the chassis for a few laps around the driveway yesterday afternoon and stated working on the fenders. They are overall pretty solid rust wise, but they need some work fixing crack, dents, and extra holes that were added over the years. I mocked the fenders up quickly last night to check for clearance around the shock mounts and battery tray, as the fenders we have are from a CJ2A, and the inner fenders are slightly different.

Overall, the fitment is pretty good. Going to try to finish up the repairs tonight or tomorrow.

Haven't had much to do due to lack of parts. However, that changed this week. Made a quick 2 day road trip to pickup the reproduction body tub we bought just before everything got shut down. Planning to start fitting the tub in the coming weeks!
