I'm not sure what it's out of. We bought a dual resivour master cylinder kit from Herm the Overdrive Guy. It comes with a new bolt on bracket and you need to cut part of the frame where the original MC mounts for clearance.

Overall it's a pretty complete kit.

Here a couple of photos of the MC mount. We opted to weld it instead if bolting it on to the frame.

A family friend stopped by last night to check out the project last night. He snapped a photo of my father and I with the rolling chassis. If all goes well it will have the engine installed later tonight!

Well after a few hours of wrench turning, the CJ3A has a drivetrain again! Probably the first it's had an engine in several years!

It's amazing how small these were compared to the more modern Jeeps!

Have been working on some small things over the last few weeks as funding for the project has been low. Getting my tax return this week, so some new parts will be on the way soon.

Started plumbing in the brake lines before my flaring tool broke . Ordered a new flaring tool and should have the brake system buttoned up sometime next week.

Overall the plumbing is pretty tight with the dual master cylinder and proportioning valve.

Started getting the grille cleaned up in preparation for mounting the radiator. Removed the radiator support pieces to repair some damage/rust as well as to clean the rust between the parts prior to priming it. While dong this, I think we have stumbled upon the 3A's original color. Under the grille welting, and behind the headlight buckets, the paint appears to either be "Hampshire Green Poly" or "Emerald Green". We haven't decided on a color yet, as we're a long way away from that. Although, considering how much of this Jeep is not original, it might be cool to at least have it's original paint color.

We also put the grille on the frame for a few quick photos.

At the local 4x4 shop I used to work at, when someone mentioned 'going back to the original color', we always jokingly said, 'was it red, or was it green?'

Seems that almost every older jeep that has been repainted was at one point one of those two colors...

Looking great so far; keep it up!

This seems to be true from my experience as well. I've seen a lot of brown flat fenders as well.

This Jeep appears to have been at least 3 or 4 different colors over it's 60+ years of existence. After a quick google search I'm liking the look of Emerald Green on a flat fender.

We should be making some good progress over the next couple of weeks. USPS, FedEx and UPS are going to be making a lot of trips to my house in the coming days...

A bunch of parts came in today! The exhaust system, new accelerator pedal, brake fittings and flex lines and a new shinny steering wheel! Spent the evening installing the exhaust and finishing up the brake lines. Should be able to bleed the brakes this weekend. Once we get the radiator, we'll be really close to having a running chassis!

We also fabed up a temporary gauge panel for a speedo, oil pressure and coolant temp gauge.

We fabed up a temporary fuel tank courtesy old Tecumseh Snow blower engine and a temporary support for the radiator. Just waiting on an oil pressure and coolant temp gauges and we'll be ready to test run the engine soon!

The engine is a runner again! Still need to dial in the timing and carb adjustments, but it runs pretty good all things considered.
