Made a little more progress this week.

Dropped the frame off at my local body shop to get it straitened. The front driver side frame rail had a pretty good twist to it from years of plowing snow. Everything is straight and square now. This week it's off to the sand blaster.

Hoping to get it back so we can make any repairs that are needed and in paint over Christmas holiday. Also orders a set of new springs this week.

Getting one step closer to the goal of having a running chassis by spring!

Had a few days off before Christmas, and have made some good progress on the frame.

We picked the frame up from the sand blaster on the the 19th. Over the last week or so we've repaired all the damage from the 60+ years of plowing and added some reinforcement plates.

We also repaired some the rusted body mounts and added the bracket for the dual reservoir master cylinder.

Should be able to get to grinding the welds down this week and finnish getting it prepped for paint. Hoping to have it painted by New Years!

Are those plates part of a kit or is that of your own design? Nice boxing plates either way!

Those couple spots you repaired makes me want to take a look in those areas. I won't have the luxury of a sand blasted frame. That is real nice working from that.

Thanks! The plates were of my own design. Some of them were based on the factory boxing plates used on the M38 and M38A1. I cut them out from 1/8" plate on my metal band saw. I made the templates from some old cardboard.

The sandblasted frame was well worth it! I got it all done for less than $200

Took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather we had the day after Christmas to get the last few repairs done and get the frame prepped for primer!

Laid down 2 coats of epoxy primer today. Will lay down the semi-gloss black hopefully tomorrow. Should be able to start assembling the rolling chassis once the paint dries!

Got the frame painted. Going to let it dry for a few days. Then on to assembling the rolling chassis!

Put the axles and springs under the frame this morning. The CJ3A is back on it's own feet again!

You have too much room in your garage. I'm jealous.

I'm fortunate to have a big garage, but to be honest I'm running out of space! The garage can always be bigger!

I'm looking forward to gaining some floor space once we get the engine and trans bolted in.

looks great. I did a cj3b a few years ago. I used an EZ wiring harness, I was very happy with that. I also found that a Toyota starter is an easy and cheep swap from the original 6V starter.

Thanks! We still have a lot of work before we get to the wiring part. Normally I would build my own harness, but considering the time and materials involved, the $300 cost for a complete harness isn't all that bad.

I've seen the Toyota starter stuff, but unfortunately it won't work with the the earlier 124 flywheel and bell housing we have with our 3A. Although there are reasonably priced gear reduction starters available that we may consider when our original starter finally goes.

Got some more parts bolted on this week. The 3A now has steering, pedals and a master cylinder.

This is coming along nicely. The steering and brake setups look really good.

What is that master cylinder out of? Did it bolt up to the stock location?
