Seatbelt ding

I have a new 2018 Jeep Renegade I got about 2 weeks ago. Love it for the most part. I only have one issue: seatbelt chime. I wear the seatbelt for all my drives, but I'd like to be able to take it off when I get to a parking lot or am leaving a parking lot, or similar situation. I've tried a few things but the dinging remains. Anyone able to stop it???

From another forum (if you have push button ignition, just turn the car off after the last sequence and you should hear the tone):

Figured it out.

get in the car
buckle seat belt
turn key on 2 clicks
wait for seat belt light to go off
unbuckle and release seat belt and let it go back in until the light comes on.
repeat that 3 times
on the 3rd time - turn the key back 1 click
you should hear a conformation tone.

Mine does not have those it has a start button and it's just a start and stop it doesn't have like you press it once for accessory twice for run and so on

I am willing to try that though so when you unbuckle at you let it go all the way retract it out and then pull it all the way back in and buckle it and do that three times correct

For the Compass model you appear to have to do that. Unsure but probably good practice for Renegade too.

Well, so far it isn't working darn it. I hate that damned noise lol. I've tried the unlock/lock three times and ending it locked, then ending it unlocked, neither way works.

Take a sharp screwdriver and keep jamming it into the buzzer speaker module until it stops. Just kidding....I am going to put tape over mine to try to tone it down a bit. Let's hope the turn signal tone does not come out of the same module.

note sure about the systems in these and SRS 2 or3?. I believe a 2012 Jk is a 2. But i turned my seat belt chime off by using a jumper wire at the connection to the seat belts latch. Since this switch in the latch that tells the SRS just if its open or closed and is just two wires. Once the Jumper wires is inserted into the harness to that seat belt latch the SRS thinks its always buckled up. I did this since my jeep has full harnesses and nothing stock about the belts or seats. Doing this though means you never will be warned your belt is not on. Not that people should need to be warned. should be a habit.
