Homelink in my Compass

Surprising, the Homelink is not available in the latest Compass, so I had to do something about it. I was able to aquire a visor mount style Homelink off of Ebay for a few bucks. and since I do not have a sunroof, I utilized the overhead console where the sunroof switch would be. Removed the internals, and proceeded to cut, grind and drill.

Had to do a bit of finessing on the units housing to fit it inside, remove the plug and "pigtail it for power

Pakratting some shelving parts paid off. I was able to reinforce the workings with a shelf gusset, just for some added support.

Finished product, with the exception of the color being a bit darker, it looks OEM, just he way I like it

Fortunately I was able to find 12 volts at the dome light. My last Compass (16) I had to run down to the radio for power, since the dome light was controlled by the CANBUS, and only had 5 volts.

Great job...I did the same thing. Kinda fun figuring out the mechanicals. I had to add little caps on my switches to ensure good push button contact but it works great. Best part was that the total part cost was $18 for the module.

Yup, had to do the same. I added a couple of m.m's of shim to the back side of the buttons to make good contact. Not bad for under $20!

What is cool, is the seller is sending me some lighter color bezels to match the console better, I know it is trivial, but I'm anal, lol
