My new to me 2003 WJ shows it needs an ORC MODULE still done - anyone have this done? Can I pick it up and easily do it myself or do I need to deal with the dealer? Is it a real danger? Must be....

Do you have a reference # TSB, recall, anything so i dont have to search for info ?
Busy morning and only have DECAF this morning...

DO NOT INCLUDE NHTSA numbers.

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Manufacturer Recall NumberR06
NHTSA Recall Number...
Recall StatusRecall Incomplete
Summary
THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC) MODULE MAY EXPERIENCE A FRONT AIRBAG AND/OR SEATBELT PRETENSIONER INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT.

Safety Risk
AN INADVERTENT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WHILE DRIVING COULD DISTRACT THE DRIVER AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy
ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES MUST HAVE THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL (ORC) MODULE REPLACED. IF YOUR VEHICLE STILL HAS SAFETY RECALL M35 (12V-527) OR N13 (13V-040) IN THE "OPEN" STATUS, PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH A CHRYSLER DEALER TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. IF YOU ALREADY HAD M35 (12V-527) OR N13 (13V-040) COMPLETED, RECALL R06 MUST STILL BE COMPLETED ONCE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE.

Manufacturer's Notes
For more information, visit recalls.mopar.com or call 1-800-853-1403. Please have your VIN ready when calling.

Here's the recall, parts required and service procedure:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...5V046-7194.pdf

You will need to have a dealership service department do this recall as it involves FCA connecting to the Jeep's computer to determine which repair package is required (there are 3 different modules for WJs).

Is there any way to temporary disconnect the airbags - just until I can get this done? BTW - it is just me driving - I have no wife or kids - I always wear my seat belt.😷 Just not wanting to deal with the dealer during Covid19...

Thanks!

TMI:

Several recalls around the same issue, module, wiring.
there is a build date cut off, and serial# range.
Your local friendly jeep dealer would NOT give away parts for you to do this if your vehicle is in the 'window' of vehicles affected.

SUGGEST
Have your Vin # and call jeep to discuss status. Recalls are FREE parts and labor..

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Called and will be taking it in tomorrow - there was two recalls not done - the one we have been chatting about but also something called the "Rear Enhancement" number " N47 " - if you have any info on that it will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
