Cruise Control Recall

Just in time for your holiday weekend travel plans...

http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/25/auto...rol/index.html

Fiat Chrysler is recalling 4.8 million vehicles over an issue that could prevent drivers from turning off cruise control.

Only one incident related to the malfunction has been reported to Fiat Chrysler (FCAU), and there are no reported injuries.

The issue can be triggered when the car accelerates while operating under cruise control, which it might do in order to maintain its speed while climbing a hill, the company said. This could potentially cause a short circuit.

When that happens, the vehicle can become locked in cruise control. The typical methods for exiting cruise control tapping on the brakes or hitting the designated switch can stop working. However, drivers would still be able to slow down or stop their vehicles by hitting the brakes, shifting into neutral or both.

FCA is asking owners of the recalled vehicles to bring them into dealerships for a no-cost software update that can prevent the short circuit. In the meantime, the company is advising drivers of the involved vehicles to avoid using cruise control.

The models covered under the recall include:

2015-17 Chrysler 200 sedan
2014-18 Chrysler 300 sedan
2014-18 Dodge Charger sedan
2014-18 Dodge Durango SUV
2014-18 Dodge Journey crossover
2014-18 Jeep Cherokee SUV <--------

2014-18 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV <--------
2014-18 Ram 2500 pickup
2014-18 Ram 3500 cab chassis
2014-18 Ram 3500 pickup
2014-18 Ram 4500/5500 cab chassis
2014-19 Ram 1500 pickup
2015-18 Dodge Challenger coupe
2017-18 Chrysler Pacifica minivan
2018 Jeep Wrangler <--------

I just had mine done yesterday. I had a appointment to get it done. I was planning on waiting on it, but I had my kids with me so I drop it off instead, and walked home three blocks away. I dropped if off 7:30 am and didn't get it back until 1:30 pm. Pissed me off when I picked it up and the work order said the tech started at 12:13 pm and was finished by 12:20 pm.

Dealer service dept didn't scan for recall notice?

Took my 2015 jeep for dealership today.

Told them i was going on a long trip and needed a thorough service check.

They connected it to scan tool and no codes came up. Said I was good to go.

I said, 'so you fixed the recall issue'? 'Uh...no.'

This is an important safety recall. How did it not come up during their thorough check???

Lazy service advisor would be the most likely scenario. When they plugged in the tablet when you pulled it in to be written up, that should have flagged the vehicle for the recall. If all they did was plug in a scanner to look for codes, the recall won't show as it doesn't trip a code.

Some blame does fall on you though. When asked what your concern was, you should have said I need it checked thoroughly as I'm driving on a long distance trip and that the cruise control recall needs to be done.

If I'm guessing, your in a Jeep Wrangler so it wouldn't fall into the recall because you're driving a 2015 and not a 2018 unless the OP's information is wrong in the original post.
