for what it was designed to do, the dana 35 is perfectly adequate.

If you want to upgrade to increase offroad capability by getting bigger tires, lockers, and adding weight, it is only logical than that you must upgrade axles. People seem to forget that an axle is a part. Being such it is akin to an alternator. Just because it's a big, heavy, expensive part doesn't mean it wont need upgraded

i dont understand why someone would like it

understanding its manufactured purpose is one thing, liking it is another

why are there 3 votes for liking it

Pretty sure only d35 come with .07 gearing, so it's like I got ****ed over twice. So yeah, I hate it x2.

all things considered, if I was buying a jeep, I'd rather have a stock dana 35 than an AMC 20

not many (if any?) jeeps have those interchanging as an option though

its pretty much the d35..or something useful

Hopefully you knew what you were buying when you bought it... It reputation is bad but it almost always abused(larger tires, more horsepower than is intended for and just bad wheeling). The D35 is what most first time wheelers have and they are also the ones who make the most mistakes. Most D35's are geared for the street not hardcore wheeling. Not really defending it. Im just saying that maybe some of the criticism of the D35 is really a result of beginners learning the limitations of a their equipment the hard way. We all learn that way sometime

At least two-thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity: idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religous or political ideas.

Until it breaks it's the best thing since sliced bread!
And when it breaks I will chuck it in a heap and b u r n i t ! !

correct! A dana 35 under the jeep is worth 10 Dana 60's in the shop

I'm just curious what the hell you're doing to break a D35 with a 2.5L and 30's. Mine's held up just fine for years with the 4.0 HO and 33's.

I wouldn't say I hate it as it hasn't given me any problems but I always hear that little voice in my head whenever the terrain gets tough.
