New Preamble To The Constitution

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, and delusional. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.'

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right
to a new car, big screen TV,
or any other form of wealth.
More power to you if you can
legally acquire them, but no one is
guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone --not just you!
You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots,
and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. This one is my pet peeve...get an education and go to work..don't expect everyone else to take care of you!

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but if it would turn out the same way as current public housing, we're not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people..If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you put away for the rest of your sorry life.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be
surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away
in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right
to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you
to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an America means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language.
Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

(and last but not least....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right
to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one God. You are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all, with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

(Yes I know its a repost, Get over it)

At least two-thirds of our miseries spring from human stupidity, human malice and those great motivators and justifiers of malice and stupidity: idealism, dogmatism and proselytizing zeal on behalf of religous or political ideas.
- Aldous Huxley

Greed and theocratic-driven fascism, FTL.

It's funny to me that it's conservatives who always crank out stupid **** like this (i.e., all poor people are lazy, conform to a way of life that doesn't offend our sensibilities, anyone who gets hurt is just stupid, get rid of negligence laws, etc.), but it's somehow the liberals who are "elitists."

It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds.

Word.

"Sandstorms inflict damage of about $540 million per year, and losses of crops and forests due to acid rain amount to about $730 million per year. More serious are the $6 billion costs of the "green wall" of trees being built to shield Beijing against sand and dust, and the $7 billion per year of losses created by pest species. We enter the zone of impressive numbers when we consider the onetime cost of the 1996 floods ($27 billion, but still cheaper than the 1998 floods), the annual direct losses due to desertification ($42 billion), and the annual losses due to water and air pollution ($54 billion). The combination of the latter two items alone costs China the equivalent of 14% of its GDP each year." - Jared Diamond, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

How is that greedy? It's just saying work for your life what you desire; not suckle at the government teet, which is the mentality of too many people in this nation.

liberals are the greedy ones. There's been study after study that show conservatives donate about 30% more to charity than liberals. Conservatives want to donate their money and Liberals want to donate the taxpayers money.

Americans are the most charitable people to be found, except when it really comes to helping people. I believe that in the wealthiest nation on earth, all of its citizens should have basic food and shelter, and that it's the rationalization of greed that leads to the concept that people are poor just because they're lazy. Moreover, it's the same "I don't really care about other people" attitude that leads not only to the idea that people shouldn't have their basic needs met, but also perpetuates our crime problem and the problem of those who do try to abuse the system. Perpetuating the mindset of absolute individualism isn't conducive to an organized society.

This makes no sense. It's not even an argument. Health care in this country is in shambles. Yes, we have the best specialists in the world, but somehow we also have the highest infant mortality rate and the lowest life expectancy of the first world, western nations. This is also plagued, of course, by the obesity problem which is exacerbated by our unabashed consumerism. Americans are programmed by a corporate culture to constantly consume, whether it's food or a bunch of crap that you don't really need to live in pointless competition with everyone around you.

in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
This mindset is fine, but empty, since our society protects, even congratulates in a way, people who are corporate criminals who rip off others for millions of dollars just to add to their already obscene amounts of wealth. Kenneth Lay, for example, had TAX SHELTERS to PROTECT money he STOLE from his employees.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right
to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you
to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.
This is exactly the mindset multinational corporations love as they export manufacturing jobs, which was the basis of the "American dream" for most of the 20th century, overseas for cheap, almost slave labor. And the education available to all in the United States isn't even close to being the same.

This observation is just stupid.

I donate my time rather than my money to the needy. As far as money goes, I believe the government is in the better situation as far as reach and infrastructure to help people who are poor and/or homeless in this country, rather than private organizations or special interest groups. When you're disabled, do you go to a private charity for Disability Insurance? When you're unemployed, do you go to a private charity for unemployment insurance?

Wow, that's such a great argument you present.

OUR system is what allows You to post on here.
Then how do you explain the English, Belgians, and all the other people who post on here? The fact that the owner of this site pays for server space and then allows people to post on his site, using it as a forum, is what allows me to post on here. Americans don't have any more rights on the internet than any other country that allows free access. Hell, I belong to sites that are just as free that are owned by Russians. Is the Russian system what allows me to post on there? Yet another argument that makes no sense.

And enjoy your ban from bypassing the swear filter

PJL, it's a ****ing chain letter. If you don't like it just don't say anything. I highly doubt the original writer of this is going to read your responses, so who cares. Quit trying to disagree with everybody.

Sheesh.

So why should anyone respond to it, then? Obviously it was posted to elicit a response.

Um, if you go by per capita income, we are NOT the most wealthy nation on earth. Go look at Norway and Switzerland.

As for "Perpetuating the mindset of absolute individualism", I'm glad to help someone if they can really use it, as long as they prove they're not going to piss my money/whatever away. I'm sure that doesn't speak for everyone though. I saw a bum yesterday turn away a free sandwich that a student was offering him; the bum wanted money. hmm, I wonder what he was going to do with it...I'm glad the student refused to give him money. It's that sort of thing, only on a larger scale, that you seem to equate with "greed". It is NOT greed. I'm not saying there aren't greedy people, but "ARTICLE IV" is in no way promoting greed.
