Maybe the gauge ?

79 CJ7
Temp gauge and fuel gauge pegged far right

Things done:
Replaced the temp sensor, no change.

Let it idle 15 minutes and drove it, no overheating

Any suggestions?

I'd stick with your original thread in the CJ tech forum, you're more likely to get better help there from the CJ specialists.

And stop impersonating me, I'M Kruzin and have been for decades!

Many senders start out open and move to ground as they warm up. An immediate swing to full ground often means you have a wire contacting ground somewhere.
