Wow, that was awesome. There was a few times when the a car on the left made it halfway through that section and an F1 came into the picture and finished the section before the other car. I would love to have one of those suckers, and they are only 2.4L. I think they are going to 1.6L 4-cyls in 2013 with a rev limit of 12k RPM. That will slow those suckers down

I've been a long time F1 fan, got used to waking up very early on Sunday mornings...

Anyways I always disliked Jeff Gordon however back in 02 he drove Montoya's BMW F1 car. This was back in the V10 days and just 2 years before the fastest F1 cars ever (04). First full lap with no offs he was running 1:18's at Indy, that morning when Montoya was setting the car up he could only squeeze out 1:17's. I remember watching the special when it originally aired and they said Gordon's times were good enough to qualify in the top 16 for the race the year before and this was the first time he had ever sat in one.

The main problem for drivers in F1 is physical fitness, these guys are in marathon runners condition, any of us wouldn't be able to hold our heads up after just a few laps. I saw a special on Schumacher a while back and he was running 10 miles a day plus weight training and biking another 25 miles....

Senna's still the god of the sport....

As a racing fan I was shocked at how well Gordon took to the F1 car. I know he is a top level driver but almost all of his experience to that point was in circle track stuff with basically junk brakes(NASCAR included). It only took him a session or two to start turning laps that would have qualified him for the GP.

And yes, Senna will always be the greatest I have ever seen. Still remember the day he died.

Back in the day, Emerson Fittipaldi was the man but I agree Senna was a god on the track. What is it with Brazil putting out these quality drivers?

When I was a kid this car was the baddest thing on wheels.

Fittipaldi was indeed a great driver but I would point to Senna in the rain at Donnington in '93. It is the kind of drive that separates a great driver from the greatest of all time. Botched start then squeezed out going in to turn 1 and into the lead before the end of the first lap. I truly believe that he would have stacked up against the greats of any era.

I saw that, he made it look easy. I agree he is the best of all time, I just like Emo since I grew up with his exploits.

F1 and Rally are my favorite types of four wheeled racing. They're not motocross or motoGP but they're the next best thing. Watching the Top Gear Senna tribute reminded me of some of the passes Valentino Rossi makes in motoGP.
