cj 7 Vin# reasearch

I have broke out my Vin # for my 1981 cj7. I was wondering how i can go a bit further to find out if it was a renagade or larado package. There's a few things leading me towards the larado but i would like to know for sure. It has a Crome grill, padded grab handle, Crome mirrors. The bumpers and bumperets have been removed and the other could have been added. I does have the factory tach and clock if that makes a difference.

Jeep did not include trim info in the VINs of older Jeeps.
Where you need to look is at the ID plate on the firewall. It will have some trim codes on it that may help some, but they didn't include everything there either.
Here's a couple threads showing where to find the ID plate, and what some of it means...

'01 XJ Sport
'10 Fusion
