$150-200 GPS Unit?

I was thinking about getting a portable GPS unit for my wifes car. Can anyone give me any recommendations. Id really like to spend right around $150 on one and would like input if any of you could help me out.
I tried to search for GPS threads but something with the google advertising prevented me from doing so.

I have a Tom Tom and have been quite happy with it.

I got my son one last Christmas

I've seen them at BJ's for around $150

^^ yeah my sister has the tom tom sometimes it simply wont have a place, other than that its fine though

i have noticed the tom tom will self destruct before giving you a different route. opposed to making you turn around and do what it said (happens every time for atleast 15 min)

I bought myself a Magellan Road Mate...works amazingly. ran me $190.

I have used several of them and I have to say garmin and magellan are the better ones. They all do what they are supposed to do but imo garmin does it a little better than the rest.

Touchscreen huh, so bunch of greasy fingerprints all over it?
Are the touch menus easy to interface and pick where to go?
Probably not safe to drive and use one is it?

That's a lot for a portable GPS. They've come down lots in price and you can get a good one for $100 - $120. I have a Mio with extra wide screen and more features than I ever use for $120, one and a half years ago. They all do the same basic stuff - get you where you want to go and tell you what's around you (resteraunts, gas stations, etc.).

yeah dont be confused, its not like a touchscreen phone, the touch screens are basically meant to be used while shaking and driving

their all matte screens, no finger prints, no glare.

the menus are super simple, and you usually update em by plugging a mini usb cord into your comp and going to the website for the software (usually included)

im still going garmin ftw, and the military guy is with me (i think he knows his gps')

so again, whats the svt for haha
