That's the sway-bar link. You need one on each end of the sway-bar.

Thanks so ;much for the info.

The links I have look rusted/old and I would like to replace them. Is the job as simple as it looks?

Pretty much......

There is no reason to replace the pictured part

Agreed. It's perfectly fine. Replace it with a new one if you wish but it's just going to end up looking like that again in a couple years. If you really want to make it look nice, take it off, clean it off, paint it and put it back on.

Parts already ordered ($30) for the pair.

I'd rather not have to deal with the old links failing at all............

underscore 05-07-2021 02:53 PM

What makes you think it's going to fail?

For $30 he gets to pull out the old parts and see the rest of his suspension components under there. More than likely, he will find parts that actually need to be replaced.

The best way to learn is to just jump into **** lol

Mainsail 05-14-2021 07:57 AM

There's so much wrong here....

OP, you want to replace a perfectly good part (that really looks nothing like a shock absorber) because you want to prevent it from failing, even though the ones you have will last as long or longer than the rest of the vehicle?

Please tell me you understand torque and bolt stretch, and know what value to set your torque wrench when you tighten the bolts. I hope they come right off for you, and don't break....

I recently replaced mine but the boot was torn and the ball joint was exposed and crusty aka needing replacement, besides I upgraded to SRT ones.
