Tpms question..

I have an '07 GC with the basic TPM System. I am getting an annoying flashing dash light and chime pretty frequently, that indicates there is a fault. My question is can it be completely disabled, I don't need it anyway.

Thanks!

I don't think that it can. I have the deluxe system in mine and it cannot. The system can be very annoying. I went through a period of time with almost constant false warnings. Took it to the dealer who "fixed" it..... replaced two sensors.... charged an arm and leg. A week later the false warnings continued. It finally went away on its own. That was back in 09 and was my last trip to a dealer. I recently had all my sensors replaced because they had low batteries and one was totally dead. I had it done at the local tire shop when I bought new tires...so they did the sensors for no extra labor charge. They guaranteed they would work.... and they do. I don't remember what brand they used, but it was a 3rd party brand.

The older superchips 3875 will disable TPMS if it was updated when the feature was available. I don’t think the newer SC tuners had/have that feature .

The other option I believe is appcar-diagFCA https://appcar-diagfca.com/en/

I am pretty sure, like the emissions systems, it's illegal to disable the TPMS on the 06> vehicles. That being said, currently about the only way I know of to disable it is with an HP Tuner, but that's way too expensive for just shutting off the TPMS. Also, any tire shop worth its salt should be able to easily diagnose "common" problems with the TPMS. It's really not that complex of a system.....pretty much sensors, transmitters, control unit (WCM) and the wiring to and from the transmitters and WCM. All components are easily checked with a good quality computerized diagnostic scanner and/or a TPMS Service Tool.

ok, this may sound dumb, but at what outside temp does the tpms come on? My '07 overland tpms is very sensitive to cold weather and if the temp drops below about 35 deg, the tire pressures drop and the tpms goes on.

On yours, the low pressure threshold setting in the WCM is probably set too high or you're not running enough air in the tires during the cold weather. Next winter, you may want to check the pressures of all tires on one of the colder days. Does the TPMS work properly during the rest of the year? How much air do you normally run in your tires and are they the factory stock size?
