I have a Grand Cherokee 4.7, 150k miles....that is in need of some TLC. I'm replacing control arms soon.
Through some luck online I'm getting my hands on some new Mopar Commander Hemi coil springs, 52124205AB and 52124206AB.
My Jeep already has Bilstein 4600s installed, unknown milage.
Now my WK has the tow haul package, without a hitch. I have always thought it looked jacked up in the rear.
Has any just done the XK coils for levelling?
If I end up too high up front, has anyone tried Moog 81697 springs? Or does anyone know of a better budget spring? I get a good rate on aftermarket parts thanks to my dad's discount.
Just trying to get a little more clearance for some 245/75r17s.

I also have a 4.7 and it had the tow prep package with the 160 amp alternator and no hitch.
I cannot offer any first hand advice, but I am sort of in the same boat.
I am noticing my rear springs are lopsided left to right, left being lower by a full 2cm with a half tank of gas.
I have been trying to find forum reviews on aftermarket springs.
RockAuto lists several vendors, but the rates appear to be the same for all engines. I am guessing there has been one spring rate chosen to cover the field due to cost savings/lack of demand.
Has anyone tried any of these for a stock rear height or slight increase?

I'd prefer to keep the factory height which kind of sounds like what you are looking to do if the XK springs level you out.
Let us know your fender to center measurement after those front springs are installed.

I cannot find the ratings for the factory springs, but I do know there were many levels.

For reference, that is higher than the OME 2992 which is 240 pounds per inch. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/emu-2992/

So, maybe the OME springs are a better match on the Grand Cherokee with XK fronts, where as the Moogs are a great budget in-between OME spring.
Prior thread mentions state OME MD on a WK will get you about 22 inches fender to hub center.

I think the 81697 are for the Commander, and are firmer due to the 3rd row seating. I’m not sure, but it would make sense.
I had a difficult time choosing springs when I overhauled my suspension earlier this year. I started out with Moog, but decided not to install them since the fronts were not ground flat and didn’t mate up well with the isolators due to that.
I didn’t really want a lift, but in the end I went with the OME md set and Bilstein 4600s all around. They ride okay, but I sort of regret it. I don’t need the Jeep to be higher than stock, and it’s more difficult to get in and out of obviously. Last I checked, I think I was around 21.5 rear and 22.5 front with this setup.
I’ve been considering going with Eibach to lower it slightly less than stock (1” or so), but a review on Amazon indicates this might cause issues with the UCA hitting the inner fender. I think Mopar might be the best bet if you’re not looking for a lift. I haven’t decided if I’ll incur the cost and go through the hassle of installing again.
Just to follow up, I found out the specs on the Moog and Husky springs. I can't find anything for the AC Delcos.
Moog 80919 are 208 pounds/inch left, 188 right. Rated for 818# and 687#

As for replacing with the XK Hemi coils up front, I've seen a few prior posts mentioning that the weight ratio front to rear on the Commander is quite different than the WK. The Commander has less weight up front thanks to the long rear end. I wonder if they will provide any extra lift. Curious if anyone else has measurements.
Moog 81697 Commander springs do have the 267#/inch, but appear to be 13 inches while the OME 2992 that are rated at 240#/inch are 14 inches.
So, what are the ride characteristic differences between short/stiff vs longer/softer?

I'm probably over thinking all of this.
Seems to me all the manufacturers who make aftermarket springs make them stiffer to accommodate all the various permutations of engines and other stock equipment.
Had a WK customer recently who installed some loaded (with new coils) front struts and got over 1" of lift out of them vs stock height.
Kolak can you comment on the longer and less #/inch vs shorter and higher #/inch?
Assuming you're talking about front springs on the WK, the rate is going to be influenced by how much the spring is preloaded. Here's some reading:
Just to follow up on my mini lift.
XK front springs with Bilstein 4600s up front gave me 20 inches axle center to the fender.
In the rear I used the Husky springs, 4600 shocks, and a Moog WJ front insulator on top to acheive 20.5.
It looks more aggressive and rides awesome again.
