I have considered that issue and still am. I do want it to keep looking good but that Line-X is soooo hard to damage.

Do it ..................!

I've bed lined my entire 1996 vitara (geo tracker) with raptor here in australia ,it is the best decision ive made we have the harshest summer months and ive never had it fade and my vehicle lives outside , gets used and abused regularly.
ive even noticed it has a dent resistance aswell by stiffing up panels , im planning on doing a xj next !

Then maybe my f250 .............

1, doesn't scratch
2, sound deadened the entire car
3, cost me $400 aus to do inside, underneath ,outside plus barwork
4, if you do hit it hard enough to chip it 'which would probably total your ride' can simply respray it with no need to colour match .
5, it looks like heavy metallic in the sun girls dig it haha ...... or wives
6, you never need to polish your car again .

Try plastidip.

Less permanent and easier to touch up if it DOES get gouged.

If it is already black I would have it lightly sanded and sprayed with a satin or flat clear coat. It would look sick and be fairly easy to maintain. The main issue I see with the lineX would be the additional weight. There was an episode of Mythbusters where they lineX'd a vehicle and I believe it added a significant amount of weight. Hopefully this gives you another option and may meet the approval of your wife also.

I am sure what ever route you go the Jeep will look good. Good luck!

I did almost an entire XJ with white, black, and orange "durabak" bedliner product.

It comes in 17 colors and can be sprayed on smooth or brushed/sponged on rough. I did it rough up to the door sills.

If you look at my profile photo you can see the XJ.

It looked better from afar than up close, follow the directions carefully to avoid runs.

I think sprayed on smooth would look like original paint if done well with proper equipment.

I thought it looked great, wife was dissatisfied.

For a trail/ sometime road vehicle I think it's the best and the colors can make it look good on your original WK.

P.S.-

Weight added was only that of a couple gallons of durabak, maybe 10 lbs.
