yes that is the same problem.

basically the copper o-ring at the bottom of the injector has gone out.

yes, good point, probably best to stick with cleaning it out with the airgun.

Fuel return hose removal

Do I need to disconnect the return fuel hose before removing fuel line from common rail -> injector, electrical connector and bolt. If so, how is that done.

You need to push down on the round ring to release the fitting. Be careful to not damage the o-ring. You can go to your local Jeep dealer to get the o-ring.

I hate to call people out, but this is absolutely incorrect and just cost me a return harness. The locking ring needs to be lifted UP, not pushed down. Pushing down breaks the "feet" that latch onto the return nipple on the injector. Once the parts were removed, it was easy to see pushing the lock ring down was not correct. Too bad hindsight is 20/20.

Whitbread... have you done the injector copper ring replacement? I just heard/found one of mine is bad. Any help would be wonderful! Also, Gaylord, MI?

Yup, I did the driver side rear cylinder. Outside of breaking the return line clip due to either incorrect instructions all over the net or a change in the harness since mine is a very late 08, it was smooth sailing. I'm 20 mins east of Gaylord.

Fortunately I have pulled the foam and plastic cover off the engine after I bought it. I wont be needing that.

My rear passenger side has started to leak. Im going to replace all of them.

And what shocks me is when I post pictures with explanation and still there are people managing to advise in the wrong way ... they probably work for chrysler or something!!

Thanks for the help. I will be doing my 6 tomorrow morning. I have less than 200 miles on the one bad one, so gunk build up should be pretty minimal. I bought two cans of Seafoam to soak the holes with and will probably soak the tips of the injectors in it as well to clean up some gunk on those. I didn't get any aluminum rods yet, but need to stop at the hardware store to pick some up. I have all the parts: hold down bolts, cooper washers, and new return line o-rings to all go on.
