CRD Oil Temp Sensor

While perusing the Service Manual for my 07 GC CRD, I found a listing and picture for a oil temp sensor.

Has anyone been able to tap in to this to get a reading on an oil temp gauge?

The pic shows it located at the rear of the oil pan.

I bought the DashHawk mainly to read oil press/temp, but those are about the only two readings it doesn't receive.

I'll be going under to change the diff fluids tomorrow and will check out if the sensor is indeed there.

There is a sensor in the pan next to the drain plug. Interesting. I hadn't thought what it was for, but its location could really only be for oil temp.

I would be interested to see if you can get this to work. I am interested in purchasing a Dashhawk or ScanGauge.

Does that 4 volume set have a lot of CRD information? I too have been looking for a factory service manual that has all the CRD info and until this day have not found one.

I wonder if you may end up going to a Mercedes equipped 3.0L service manual.

Not much info on the crd.
All crd sensors are shown in the electrical section, but not much on the engine itself.

I will order one and compare to alldatadiy which is pretty basic.

FYI - They don't make the DashHawk any more... I had the LCD on my DashHawk break.... When I got it replaced under warranty I needed to upgrade the firmware and when I was asking about that they told me they'd come out with something newer.

Old thread...but my 2008 WK is going strong at 240k miles. got the CEL this week, opened Torque on my android and i see p0195 and p0198 codes. checking coolant and tranny temps I knew this was probably a bad reading. this is the only thread that correctly IDs the location of the oil temp sensor. Every source online, including MOPAR, shows the oil temp sensor on the front of the engine near the oil pressure sensor. This is wrong. trial and error, pulling sensor plugs and clearing CEL/codes and rereading show these two sensors up front to be fuel pressure and fuel temp sensors (larger vs smaller sensors, respectively). When I crawled under and touched the sensor on the oil pan, the plug basically fell away from the sensor - it had snagged on some brush or something. replugged, cleared codes and they stayed clear, CEL gone. Thanks for the (old) original post.
