Compass Stuck N with CAL indicator

I recently purchased a 2007 Grand Cherokee and the compass on the EVIC is stuck on N with the CAL indicator (solid).

I have tried the manual calibration procedure in the manual, but it never enters calibration mode. Per the manual, pressing and holding the C/T button for 5 seconds enters variance mode. This works correctly. Holding the C/T button for an additional 5 seconds should put the compass in manual calibration mode (CAL flashing) but it doesn't. It simply goes back to the previous display of N CAL.

Everything else in the EVIC works/displays properly. I can't find a specific fuse for the compass but all that I checked are fine.

I tried to find out where the compass module is located so that I can check actual wiring connections but that search was unsuccessful. I've read that it could be anywhere from behind the grill, under the dash, in the headliner to the rear view mirror.

This is my last ditch attempt at trying to find a clue as to what else I can check before forever being doomed to head N for all eternity.

Any advice or info for further troubleshooting will be greatly appreciated!

download the factory manual pdf, inside there is a section on how to degauss the antenna. That might solve your problem...
