545RFE filters 136k miles 13 yrs later

Been getting some transmission related codes from the car and decide to pull the pan out and replace the filters and fluid. The sump filter splits open and I don’t think previous owner ever change the filters or fluid. Noticed the date stamp on the spin on filter. Also there’s a slight revision to the new oem sump filter, additional port for better filtration and/or flow?

The split is your problem. It could be pulling air rather than fluid.
