Lift kit vs. body lift

I'm new here,
so forgive me if you've already answered this before. I have a 1999 Jeep Sahara and we have decided to fix it rather than purchase something new. Among upgrades we are looking to go from 15 inch tires and rims to 17in. Would it be better to do a body lift or a full on lift kit?

you need to post in the correct section. TJ section, this is web site questions.

The wheel size has little to do with a tires diameter. Say you have a 30" tire and its on a 15" wheel. It is the same size if i have a 17" wheel and a 30" tire. Or say you want 20s for wheels on a 30"tire, yep same 30" just the hole changed in the middle.

personally i do not see this an upgrade to go from a 15 to 17 size wheel. The tire cost way more, off road its less effective. I would not jump to a 17 unless i was going 37 and up, mainly do to you have too. I ran 15"x8 on this JK for years on 35s. Softer ride with more side wall.
