Yup! Mopar part I just picked up. The Jeep is filthy but its saved my hood from rock chips already. Gonna try and find a grille overlay to protect the paint as well

Woo, Ive seen some unpleasant accidents caused by car bras, if they get any moister underneath them for more than 30 or 40 hours, between the moister and dirt it can totally ruin your paint job.

I ruined a perfect black paint job on a 74 Porsche I once owned in just that matter. It rained over night and I failed to remove the bra and in 2 days the paint was trashed from the acid that formed under the bra. No more bras for me, not even on my street rods.

School of hard knocks I guess.

Marco

Well the bra was new and the hood was cleaned thoroughly before I put it on but I can certainly imagine the trapped moisture under there doing some damage. What do you gents recommend? Should I just take it off every so often and let it dry or what? Seems like I tried to protect the hood from damage with doing some in the meantime (possibly and hopefully not)

Minecame with one when I got itfrom the stealership. It had been an AZ truck before it was traded in in OR. You could see slight color change where it hadbeen left on and how there were several small spots that had started to rust because it had covered over chips and then covered them moisture. Bra's are cosmetically very bad for the paint. They do however do a good job of covering damage

No one mentioned here, but overlays damage your paint in a similar way as the bra. Anyone who has ever taken one off has seen the bare metal and rubbed spots where the overlay rubs the paint (saw this kind of damage on mine also when I removed the chrome one it came with). If u just like the look of it and will never take it off then Id put the overlay on it.

If not i'd say it's best to leave it bare and just accept chips, or maybe look into clear bras that usually r for luxury cars that you can only tell is on when u get up very close.

Not a problem and thanks for the input. I got a lead on an overlay im just on the fence as to what I want to do to be honest. Its just the nicest rig ive owned to date followed closely behind by my old 5.9. Once I put some trail scratches in it ill feel better about everything. Thanks again!
