you know I keep hearing this and it may apply to some, but it really depends on what kind of wheeling you do.

I admit I would rather have selectable lockers and the ability to go with 5.38 gears. But here's the thing for me the 4-1 low in the Rubi's TC is too low for mud and sand, which is what I have around me in great quantity, rocks not so much . Then there is the issue of, from the inner C's out, there really isn't any advantage over the Dana 30s found in non-Rubi LJs. The rears all have Dana 44s (LJs).

Do I think the Rubi's are great deals for what you get... YES! And to me the cat's meow would be a Rubi with auto and the Rubicrawler added for more lo range choices

So really all I am pointing out is "careful what you WISH for" cause it may not be what you NEED, thats all

I would love to have the 241J. As far as the front axle goes a d44 out of a CJ would be my ideal front diff or a Dana 60. I like the rubicons in the fact that they are set up for the trail off of the lot.

How about some Moab action from last year? I currently have a Dana 30 / Dana 44 set-up but there is a set of 60's in my future. Also, if I can swing it by the end of the year I plan on dropping in a 5.7L Hemi.

I guess the Dana 30's will hold up on 35's or do you have to go to stronger axles. I don't do any wheeling due to the fact that I don't like the mud but I would love to take it to the hills around Austin, TX and on day Moab.

I have a 30 with 35s and have broken a couple of u-joints. Basically the shafts are holding but the joints have given up. With my chromolly shafts they have lasted much longer. If you are not going to run it really hard I'd have no issues with 35s on a 30.

The original owner is part of a Jeep club and was getting crap for not buying the Rubicon, so to shut them up he just bought the stickers! I'll be driving it from California to Texas in a few weeks and am looking forward to making some stops along the way to break her in.
