After my little mud bog adventure my new Jeep needed to be cleaned. I believe this picture is from the next day, a Sunday. I had duty so I had to be at work that day, all day and night, until relieved on Monday. Weekend duty days were pretty kicked back, with one scheduled flight for the duty section to support. I would usually have a project to work on for the day, we called them “Homers”. On this weekend duty-day my homer was cleaning my Jeep. The “Ready plane” can be seen in the background. It has been pre-flighted and is ready to launch should the SAR alarm go off.
I washed and cleaned the mud out of the interior as well as the exterior. When I was ready to do the final wash & rinse of the interior, I drove up the side of the wash rack, and then removed the drivers seat. I had previously removed the rest of the interior prior to competition. By putting it on an angle I was able to pull a drain plug and let the water drain out, it worked out pretty good.
There is no way I would abuse a new Jeep now, like I did back then. It is a 1986 Jeep and the picture is from 1987. It was a good time for sure, but not very smart. That Jeep took a beating and I broke it several times, but it never let me down on Monday when I had to drive it to work.
