Love this area. We’ve spent most of our time in Lake City and the Alpine Loop, but we’re headed to Telluride this year. Excited to see some other parts of the mountains and trails.

It snowed about 4" on top of the passes last week, though I bet it didnt last long. My crews were going through so I didnt get to see for myself.

We had a very good winter so I bet there is still quite a it of snow up high.

All of the more popular trails are open, with the exception of Black Bear and CR2 between Silverton and Animas Forks. Imogene just opened a few days ago.

We just got back last week and had a blast. Join the FB group Southwest Colorado OHV as they are pretty active and there are previous posts about what is open that you can search.

I would add 1-2 stars to the difficulty of any trail as the damage from the avalanches has changed some of them significantly. Engineer was easier and wider closer to the pass where it used to be narrow, but it is harder in other places I don’t remember standing out previously.

Yankee Boy was really interesting, LOL. Everything I’d ever read made it out to be a simple, rough road, but it is absolutely 4wd & high clearance only past Twin Falls. Just past the falls, there is a washout (wrong term?) where the runoff has worn a deep path in the road and then turns and runs down the road. It’s passable, as we did it in the Trailhawk, but I had to help a guy in a new, stock Tacoma (wrong tires). We also watched a Raptor struggle, but I think the long wheelbase and driver inability had more to do with it. EDIT: I tried to upload a video of us going over it, but the forum doesn’t like the format. I’ll try again later.

Wow! We've been to this area about 6 times over the last 15 years but it's our first time with the jeep. I'm really looking forward to this. Those photos are amazing. I'll have the wife check out that FB group. Thanks for the info.
