Passenger Door Won’t Lock

Hey Everyone,

1978 Cherokee Chief. When I push down the door lock on the passenger side, it goes the full length of travel and I can see the main piece of the linkage moves into place blocking the piece that moves up and down which allows you to use the button on the handle on the outside of the door. This is to block the full amount of travel of the push button which wouldn’t allow the door to unlock in normal conditions.

But when you then push that button it moves the blocker piece out of the way and you are still able to open the door when it’s fully in the locked position. I know the problem area is that blocker piece that either is worn down and not fully blocking or it’s out of adjustment. I verified how it’s supposed to work on the driver side door. The question is: can I fix this or is there a replacement assembly for the whole linkage setup that I could swap out everything for a new setup. Thanks!!

I woudl try WD40 before anything else. I have had lock issues on old Jeeps just disappear with WD40, it cleans out the old gunk.
