Jeep Vin Decoder Help

So my great grandpa gave me some old jeep manuals he had before he passed last year. My mom would always tell me how he always had jeeps. These are really cool to me and I never noticed it until today, but he actually wrote some VIN numbers for two of his jeeps and then a Engine VIN for one of them as well. I know one was a 1973 J-2500, but the other VIN I am having trouble finding out how to decode it. The manual says it's for a Model 6-230 4x4. Utility Wagon, does anyone know how the VINs were setup for these vehicles?

6-230 would be what engine it had and the 4x4 utility was the model designation.

the 230 was an OHC(overhead cam) very techy for its time. Referred to as the "Tornado" IIRC. pretty sure all J series 62-65 had this motor

Just noticed your post count... you probably knew this already... Thought it was a newcomer

Haha it's all good. I knew about the engine because the manual shows it goes with that model, but I didn't know about the "Tornado". Don't know much about FSJ, even though I want one. It's always good to learn more stuff. Just wanted to see if there was a way I could find out a year it was. It's so cool to me that the jeep trucks he had (his jeeps were sold before I was around) are ones that I have drooled over repeatedly.
