MJ rear diff problems

hi everyone, I'm new to this Jeep forum. I'm having problems with my rear diff making clunk and poping in first and second gear and it has different poping and clunking until i shift up to 3rd. I have a Dana 35 rear and 30 up front and I have a manual trans if that means anything. I am thinking about the bearings in my diff. So much appreciated guys. I hope its not a big deal but my luck goes south these days.

Have you checked your rear 'U' joint? A bad 'U' joint can make some noise and is a lot cheaper to fix than a rear dif.
