Comanche has low power/sputtering and thick white smoke from tail pipe. Please help!

Hey guys, alright my jeep Comanche 1988 has the 4.0 high output from a 1992 Cherokee Laredo. Its been running great for a few years, however 2 months ago any time I would shut the engine off and start it again while it was still near operating temp, I would get a thick white smoke out of my tail pipe. After getting up to about 30 mph the smoke would go away and run just fine. 2 days ago I started it up from cold temp and I immediately had the white smoke, I started to drive but even at 50 mph the smoke would keep coming out of my tail pipe. Only now it also is running rough and sputtering. Has low power and it has been constantly doing this. Anyone have a lead on a diagnosis for this? Thank you all

I am going out on a limb here. Sounds like a blown head gasket. Perform a compression test on the cylinders.

Look at your oil. Is it milky looking - like chocolate milk?

If one or more cylinders are low pressure, perform a leak-down test on those cylinders to see where the leak is going.

Good luck.
