Help with 2001 XJ Vacuum leak

Help...looking for a leak. OBD code says small leak. Had a cowl induction that was illegal and I got a legal system, still won't smog, has a error code. Map on the firewall shows an EVAP canister with 3 hoses attached. I can not find it! Anybody know where the canister should be?

Thanks.
John

post the codes - might ring a bell and we can make suggestions from experience.

Illegal induction system - Are you in California? I never heard of anything like that

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Yes, In California. But turned out a good thing. Got a KN system and when I pulled out the Stinger cowl induction I found NO air filter at all. God knows what's already been sucked into the engine. The codes are P0456-small leak and P0455-gross leak (no flow). I did find a crack in one of the plastic tubes coming off the purge solenoid [not the tube with the service fitting]. I cut that and patched with rubber line.

Thanks for any input.

Wow - I am learning this california BS inspection is draconian.... Must have been written by new car dealers to drive business....
