Annual Cow Mt. OHV run, Saturday, May 20th.

Several years ago a few of us local jeepers decided to put on a get together/invitational type run at our local OHV area. Cow Mt. OHV is a BLM maintained area(poorly maintained I might add), that has some mild trails and a small obstacle course. The area runs between Lake County and Mendocino County. We start out in the creek bed area on the Lake County side, and work our way 19 or so miles over to the obstacle course on the Mendocino county side. The goal was to see how many jeepers we could get to show up, BS, check out everyone's jeeps, have lunch somewhere along the way, and get a little wheeling in. At our first invitational, we had 17 jeeps show, which was amazing and a little crazy too! We followed up each year about this time of year and had really good turnouts. The past couple of years we failed to get a run going. Life got in the way and such, so this year I'm resurrecting this annual run, and would like to invite all who would like to make the journey up here to join us in a day of jeeping.

Here is the link to Cow Mt. OHV.

We will start out with a meetup in Lakeport at the Kmart parking lot. from there I will parade us thru town and to a back road that will take us to the creek area of South Cow Mt. The creek bed area has some sections that we can warm up on. From there we head up the mountain on the main trail towards the Ukiah side. We will end up at Red Mt. campground area and finish off at the staging area on the Ukiah side. From there you can head down the mountain into Ukiah for dinner/fuel and head home viah SR101 or north to SR20.

Previous runs have anyone camp for the weekend?
What is the typical age group?

Yes, some have camped Friday night at Clearlake State Park. Some stayed Saturday and camped at Red Mt. camp or Lake Mendocino.

Ages are all across the board. I've had folks in their early 20's to late 60's show. Some brought their kids, dogs, whatever.
