speed should typically be faster. but it's a shared network so the ones that benefit the most are usually people who closer to each other iirc.

Here is a new one, got this a min ago when I clicked a link. Just a white screen with, "MySQL server has gone away".



In general, this forum is no better than a year plus ago, and actually seems to be getting worse. I'm really (REALLY!) getting annoyed, mainly because I pay for this poor performance every year, and at the by far highest subscribe cost of any forum I frequent. I am sure all the funky add-ons/extensions over the years have made the code a total rats nest underneath. I suspect that even the SQL table structure has been dorked with a lot with the extensions. A 'factory reset' to native vbullitin and porting the data back to a stock format can only help. WE NEED JF 2.0!

How long did the error last for?
If it's an intermittent server drop, a simple refresh should work.
As for your suggestion, we can take note of it for sure.

It's back!!!!!!! 8/10-8/11 forums were extremely slow took forever just to get logged on. seemed like the who site was running on dial up internet.
Not trying to sound like a wiseguy, just frustrated.
