front/rear bumper options

I am new to the forum and recently purchased my first Jeep Wrangler. It is an 05 Red X Sport, 6 spd trans, D30 front, D44 rear with soft top. I am interested in what other people have built for their rigs in regards to front and rear bumpers. Pictures and plans of what you have done would be great. I was initially thinking of starting with a 2" X 5" X 3/16" tubing and going from there, adding D-ring mounts and a hoop on the front. Rear would be similar and include receiver hitch. I seem to like the the wider bumpers as opposed to narrow. Thanks in advance.

https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/f...31/index2.html Scroll to post 18. I've started on mine. I'm working on it between other shop projects and am not done yet. They're 2x4x3/16 tube. The rear is going to have a swing away tire carrier and both ends will have D-rings and receiver tunes in them. The front will be made to attach a Warn 8274 to. If there's enough interest I plan to sell most all of the components for DIY builders and maybe offer complete units too.

No need to wait on that.

Looks great, thanks for attached pics! What do you have in mind for the front bumper?

Less is more. No metal where I don't need it. Slips over the frame nose, held on with the six OEM bumper bolts. ...and it's a bit artsy!

I've got another one cut out like the rear one except it won't have the swing out. I may make a it a bit shorter but I'm not yet sure of that. It will have a built in winch plate something like JeeperDon has made.

Here are my front/rear for ideas. They were also the first time I had ever done any fabrication so they do/did have some flaws. Still using the rear after 6-7 years with one spindle rebuild but Iíve replaced the front with poison spyder

Did the front stinger block your headlights? I was looking at doing something similar on mine when I build it, but didn't want to get to big to block my lights.

Keep the pictures and ideas coming. THANKS

I am finally getting around to starting something on the rear. I am leaning towards a 2X4 or 2X5 3/16" for that, but I would like wrap it around the corners a little. Are there any special attachment considerations that I need to make to the frame on the jeep? I plan on putting a receiver hitch and putting a carrier in it from time to time to haul things from time to time.

The front I haven't decided what route yet, but do know I want some sort of hood and fender protection built into it.

Here's one I just finished. The mounting plates are 1/2" think with slotted mounting holes and the spacer between them is 3"x3"x3/16" tubing that 2" long. That gives you enough room for the swing out that way.

Here is what I am envisioning for my front bumper made out of 3/16 sheet metal that was based off some other designs I have seen online. It will have shackles and a hoop on it when finished. Also have a pic of the rear bumper in progress which is 2X5X 3/16 tubing. Still need to figure out the mounting for it as well as the ends, was thinking I may make it wrap around the corners a little, but so far I don't like how it looks on any of my ideas. Probably will just angle cut the ends like Jim1611.

How are people doing the trailer wiring plugs on their bumpers?

I'm glad you like them. Thanks. When are you going to get started on yours? Post pictures too.
