Ford Engine cradle stand

Anyone ever make one of these? Looking to make one for my 302 going in the CJ7. They look easy enough to weld up and make, or do you think I should just order one for the $40? thanks.

or this one?

Are you going to be working on the engine? like needing to flip it over kind of thing? If not then built the hard stand just to hold it, if so then either build or find a used one that you can rotate off of CL.

Man.. on that second one, you could probably get something like that using the bottom of a shopping cart.. then it would have wheels and everything...

Work on the engine is about done..so I am almost ready to mate the T-176 to it. So I need something like this to hold the engine, trans and D300 transfer case, and I want to be able to roll it around.

This is it on a regular rotating stand

Yep that's the plan, what do you think 2"x2" square tubing or would 1.5" do? I was hoping someone had some build plans or a diagram, but it should be easy enough, thx.

Rob why not make the cradle to fit on top of the engine stand legs and roll it around using that. Save from having to buy another set of wheels.

Thanks Jim, that's actually a good idea, those casters are heavy duty. I will get some steel this weekend.

You're welcome. I'd say 1.5 x 1/8 square tubing would do great too.

Ok I ended up buying some 1.5" 3/16" wall square tubing and some metal casters. Welded it up and painted it Ford Blue. I will use this when mounting the flywheel, clutch and PP. I will also mount the bellhousing trans and case, but I will use a jackstand to support the back.

I like it, the Ford Blue sets it off Rob.
