I have read that a pre-1996 Ford F- series 4X4 truck front High Pinion Dana 44 is a good candidate for an LJ. Where is the best place to find the mounting brackets or Truss kit with brackets for that D-44 axle?
I’m planning on installing a Rubicon Express RE7224 4.5 long arm lift.
Just talked to Hunter at Next Venture Motorsports in Grand Junction CO and he told me pre 1996 F-series not the best choice for Dana 44 donor axle for my LJ project!
He thought a 1973-77 F-150 or 1978-79 F-350 HP Dana 44 was best?
Now it seems like I’m back to square one. Who is right?
Seems like the best choice for a D44 in an LJ/TJ would be one out of an LJ/TJ. Maybe not the cheapest option initially...but certainly the easiest, most direct swap, saving time/money on custom fab work and brackets.
Advance tech is a good place for this but it does not get much traffic. maybe start a thread in TJ or LJ and link back to this one until it gets some traction.
1980-97 F150/250 trucks were twin beam IFS.
Solid axles before that.
