Virginia registration

I am moving from Texas to Virginia soon. Can anyone please tell me if my TJ will be registered as a truck or a passenger car there?

It's registered as a 2 door sedan here.

But it has solid bumpers. That what makes it a truck under the fed. guidelines. West Virginia had it down as a truck 10 years ago. So my bumpers have to be under 22"s.

Virginia doesn't have a separate truck registration, a Jeep is a car. Also, maximum bumper height is 28 inches.

But I understand a passenger car max is 22"s and a trucks bumper is 28"s by Virginia website.

I have 5.25" of lift on 35's and mine passes inspection everywhere here, if that's what you're worried about. 27" front bumper and 24" rear.

Thank you for your help. I will be moving to Winchester end of summer. My bumpers are 24 1/4" and 21 1/2" But I wanted to replace my stock Rubicon size tires and replace them for 33" tires while I was still here in Dallas. As long as I can get inspected being under 28" I will be fine. Oh, Texas does not care one way or the other as long as your ride is under 13'6". I am only moving back to look after my parents. I like it down here.

Inspection procedure is here: http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Safety.shtm

Nothing in the procedure says anything about measuring the bumper.

Meh there are some guidelines for vehicle height/bumper height/etc but an inspector is having a pretty **** day if he fails you for that. Just make sure your suspension is tight (1/4" will fail you on ball joints) and your lights work. Put new wiper blades on it the day before. Check your brakes and make sure your srs light isn't on. should be fine.

'00 WJ- lift coming soon, runs like a champ
'00 E46- lowered, reinforced, I/e/tune.

Yea the crown Vic's are a bit much. There's one across the street from my work who has a 31x10.5 as a spare right now. One other thing make sure any auxiliary lights are properly covered. Most inspectors are dicks about that
