That's a bummer. I was hoping you could make it. I want to see your Jeep. I do this every year so you're in. I would do a mid summer run next year on these trails as well.

I was really hoping to make it too. Count me in on a mid-summer run for sure.

I am planning on going to Drummond during Jeep The Mac next spring with a buddy. I'll post when it gets closer but anyone here is welcome to join our convoy over or our group on the island.

Sorry you can't make it for the fall run but the summer run sounds like a plan.

Fall Color Ride – October 6th & 7th. Upper Michigan

We will be leaving from Appleton on October 6th and heading to the U.P. where we will spend two days in the woods. Saturday we will spend the night in a motel located in Christmas, MI which is just outside of Munising. Casino next door and a nice bar/restaurant across the street which we will be eating at when we arrive. The next day we head back to Rapid River and home. This is the coolest stretch for fall colors and for the driver. In the past we have had from 6 Jeeps to as high as 25 Jeeps. We will travel approximately 200 miles (mostly in the woods) and never hit the same trail twice. These trails are not difficult and just meant to be a laid back ride in the woods. They range from gravel (especially day one), sand, two track, very little blacktop, hard pack to very tight and technical. We do have to negotiate an occasional mud hole (depending on the weather) so please have solid tow points both front and rear.

You can also expect to receive some tree branch scratches as some sections can get pretty narrow especially for a JK.

If you can make this happen please let me know.
Here is an invite for those following this thread. I am heading up a small group for a fall color ride and I have had a few spots open up for this. If you think you can make it please let me know as soon as you can as this will be limited.

Just wondering how the trip was! We have only gone off-roading in Utah- do you think conditions will be okay for driving your UP MI route in late October? Also, will the colors be gone? Thanks!!!

This trip was a blast. Trails were excellent and the colors varied from just changing, gold, some amazing reds and some leaves had already fallen. Overall the timing was perfect. 10 Jeeps with some great people.

Trial wise the conditions will be great the end of October but most likely the colors will be done and most leaves will be down by the end of the month.

I actually didn't take many myself. Here are a few I took as well as stole. We hit it almost prime for most areas. Some spots had some amazing reds mixed in but of course I don't have any pictures. We had a total of 10 Jeeps and had an awesome time.

Nice! You guys hit up the Thunderbowl? I stopped there back in July, super cool place. Kinda upset I missed out on this event, been trying to get into some trail rides and meet some new wheeling buddies. I'll have to stay tuned into this thread, hope to see you guys doing something like this again!

What's the next big event for Drummond Island?
I would like to hit the dunes on the way up and then come down on the Wisconsin side.
I'm off around the 4th of July, but I'm thinking everything would be extra crowded. So maybe later in the year would be better.

Life is short, Play hard.
