Wj / zj

OK, so here's my problem i bought a 1999 grand Cherokee limited, with the 4.0.
among other repairs i need a new driver's side tail light " it has a hole in it" and i need the front driver's side turn signal. the problem is every where i look they keep showing me a tail light that is slanted and curved, the ones that are one my jeep now are squared off all around very similar to the older model grand Cherokee.

also i know that in 1999 the WJ style came out, but i've been told that i have a 1999 with the ZJ body style and that's why i can't find any of the parts i'm looking for.

i'll post pictures of my jeep tomorrow if that helps.

Uhh I dont think that's possible. the ZJ ended in 1998 and the WJ started as a 1999 model. No matter what one you own I couldnt imagine you having trouble finding parts for either one.

It sounds like you have a '98. Your title may say '99, but I'll bet it's a mistake. Probably bought in '99 as a lefteover '98. There is no such thing as a '99 with the ZJ body style.

Check your VIN. Search for a VIN decoder. The 10th digit will tell the story.

VIN number will tell you for sure, also the door jamb has a date code that should match up.

Ok sorry it took me so long to respond, apparently I don't have a 1999 I have a 1998, it just registered a 1999 but titled a 1999 don't ask me how the hell that happened, but now that that is fixed, btw I know Nothing about cars except what people tell me and from what I've been reading here on this forum apparently most of what I'm told is utter garbage. If I could figure out how to upload photos from my phone I would have done so by now .

That's better. You have a ZJ. Model years 93-98. Should have far fewer problems with the parts monkeys now. Hang around here for awhile and you will be an expert in no time. Welcome to the world of Jeeps.

Very nice. We had one just like it as a DD for several years. It was passed down to our daughter when we got our 04 WJ Overland. Love those wheels, too. We had them on a 96 ZJ that the aforementioned daughter wrecked. I swapped them onto my 92 XJ, which remains my DD.

While you are checking things over and fixing the little stuff, be sure to check under your front passenger side carpet for water. Hopefully you don't find any!
