WJ replacement exhaust headers

Any recommendations on a good quality replacement header that will be used for daily driving?

My intake manifold has a crack, so I figure it might make sense to replace the header at the same time since they are prone to cracking was well.

I can tell you from experience getting exhaust manifolds off when the heads are on is a PITA. However it is much easier than trying to get them back on with the heads installed, it's pretty much impossible to get the bolts in the bottom with the heads installed. It's a "if it's not broke don't fix it" senario.

2004 Limited, 4.7 modded slightly, IRO 3" RockLink LA front, adjustable SA rear, Bilsteins, Addco bar, JKS disconnects. Coming attractions include 242hd, IRO SYE and Woods DS right after the new engine/trans..

The intake manifold is being replaced and the gasket is being replaced. The header is coming off anyway

OP what engine you questioning it on?

'02 HO 235k ml. BDS, tubular arms, Addco sways. 245-70-17. Stock engine/tranny. Amsoil. W1CCW.

To answer your question there are quite a few quality headers available for the 4.0, if it was mine I would spend the big coin on a Banks.

Aftermarket 4.0 headers have cracking problems. They all do.

No way I'd swap it.

Are OEM Mopar headers available new. Or are these long since out of production?

The stock piece?

If so, it's discontinued.

Crown and a few others make repops of it though.

Since I have to replace the cracked intake manifold and gasket, the original exhaust header has to come off anyway.

I have read the 4.0 exhaust headers are very prone to cracking. Mine has not cracked yet, but it has close to 200K miles and 20 years of service. Should I keep the old OEM header? Or replace it with new aftermarket at the same time the intake and gasket are replaced?

Do all the aftermarket headers on the market really crack?

if they did, do you believe they would still be in business? some guys report issues, but i'd want to see the system before i blamed the header. bad motor mounts, missing exhaust hangers, incorrect installation numbers, etc. heavywall headers, with a thick, plate mounting flange, and good, penetrating welds all the way around, with proper support to take the weight of the front half of the exhaust off the mounting flange, and you should have no problems. companies that build ****ty products tend not to last long, in a niche market. a lot of problems with products can be traced back to user error. imo.
