WJ prices

Has anyone seen the prices of used vehicles lately? According to Kelly blue book my 04 Limited 4.7 4x4 sun roof tow package in good condition is worth way more than I paid for it!
Yea Im thinking of selling.

i don't think i have ever seen a 20 year old car sell for anywhere near KBB value...around here you can find something like that for ~4k with low miles.

The chip shortage is affecting used vehicle prices since manufacturers are having to close some plants and dealers are getting desperate for inventory in some areas.

I bought a new Ford Ranger at the end of 2019.

Right now, Carvana, Vroom, Carmax, and KBB are all offering me multiple thousands more than I paid for it out the door.

It varies with location, but in my area a nice low mile fully optioned '04 Limited or Overland would go for $6k very quickly.

The average price here in the SE corner of Washington state is around $2500. Most are not in great shape.

I’d sell my 77,000 mile 4.7 in as mint as a 20 year old vehicle will get condition for that price without even blinking. Let me know if someone really offers that. I’m not being sarcastic. I would sell mine for real. It’s not getting any younger.

Someone near me just sold a ~90,000 mile 04 for almost $10,000, and had multiple buyers interested

I think the prices will start going up honestly. New Jeeps are priced out of reach with the only off road capable version being a Wrangler starting at 40 G's. Not to mention they are getting huge as well. A JK is now much bigger than our WJ's, negating the main reason Jeeps got so popular, their size and agility. I feel as long as the trend continues toward bigger and pricier Wranglers the popularity of the older ones will go up, particularly the live axle models. With the WJ being the last SUV made with a live axle I think it will become more popular when the prices of ZJ's, XJ's and TJ's gets out of control, TJ's are already there.

Totally agree. Especially since WJs are easy to work on, parts can be gotten for cheap, and they have decent aftermarket support.

Go work on a late model Jeep and get back.

Headlight replacement
WJ: Remove bolt holding headlight assembly and pop out the light socket
WK2: Turn wheels to the side to partially remove fender trim, remove the front bumper, disconnect fogs, remove the grille, and take out the 4 bolts securing the headlight assembly

^ Agree with this statement.

After buying a brand new 2017 Wrangler, I'll stick to the older ones.

For a bit I was looking at TJ Wranglers and my maximum year cutoff was 2004 (No Thanks on the NSG370).

After driving probably a dozen TJs I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like them as much as I thought I would.

I think every Jeep product has its pitfalls and shortcomings, regardless of whether the design was castrated by Chrysler bean counters or Fiat bean counters(though I'm inclined to believe the Fiat bean counters are worse)

You just have to decide which ones you're willing to deal with.

I’ve never seen a vehicle sell for anything neat KBB. I just quickly went through Craigslist and there isn’t a WJ over $3500.
