This all has to do with EU safety standards for pedestrian collisions. There was an interesting article on this as it relates to the new Ford Bronco. Even the shape of car badges are regulated! https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...badge-details/

Boy that is not attractive. Too boot, it must be a pain to lean over it everytime you are working under the hood

Does Italy have safety requirements for bicycles in the event pedestrians are hit also?
