What on earth is this front bumper cover/spoiler looking thing?

Trying to head out to the JY tomorrow; was scanning the inventory and saw this WJ w/ this confused bumper cover that looks like it doesn't know whether it's a bull bar or a rear spoiler. No intentions of pulling it, but I have never seen anything like it. Any idea what it even is?

Finally found another reference to one of these on the forums. I had no idea these were OEM things as I've never seen one until now, and apparently they're pretty beefy. Mopar Molded Brush Guard MSRP $600.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't find those appealing at all.

Now if you sharpened the front edges of it, then you'd have the perfect Zombie Apocalypse accessory

Yea I'm not a fan. That upper spoiler looking thing looks hideous. I do agree though, sharpen it up and it could be a fun time. Hah

It seems that Jeep didn't sell many of those. I've only spotted one in person. I'm also not a fan. Nowhere to mounts lights, winch, etc.

It is a very rare Mopar part; if it was in Italy, I would buy it only for its rarity, not for installing it (also because here it is illegal....)

What's even weirder than someone specing that thing, is that it even exists as an option in the first place. How did this make it through all the different stages of the design and manufacturing process without someone putting their hand up and saying it looks absolutely horrendous?

It wasn't actually there when I went. Either I missed it, or someone had already pulled it as the beige(?) WJ I saw didn't have this on it.

It would take summat stronger than booze to get me to fit one.

Wonder if that spoiler is flat enough to be used as a food/drink tray? lol

Why would a brush guard be illegal?

Here in Italy, bull bars or similar things are illegal.
If the car comes from the factory with things it is ok, but then you can't add it or something else that is not listed in the car title.

You can add things only after a long homologation process, but it is expensive and modifications allowed are really few.
For example, to add winches is a real pain...., steel bumpers another pain....
There are only some parts for some car brands that can be installed, ....at a real high cost.

99% of all the modifications I see on this forum, in Italy can't be done, ...absolutely.

It's Italy....

An example: I have chromed american tow hooks, but I couldn't install them, because they are not homologated in Italy (don't know in the rest of Europe)
